No maker and country are mentioned.The 'Diamond' (on the left) is probably the ancestor of the current 'Blue Diamond' (on the right), manufactured in the United States and developed in Italy by Longoni.

from the French B.B trade mark. The advertisement comes from page 2 of the French newspaper 'Le Billard Sportif' No. 17 of 1923.
Below, a cue tip box of this well-known trademark in the first half of the 1900s.


Notice that:
-- the three cue tips are still manufactured by Chandivert (France)
-- the 'Super Royal' is a double layer tip
-- the 'Eureka' is made of veal cheek.

Here is a box of French adhesive discs for fastening cue tips to shafts

and instructions for use dating from the early 1900s. Discs are of various sizes.

This technique was already in use around 1860 and was dropped about 30 years ago when fast-setting cements were launched.

3. Cases (sorted by age).

From top to bottom:

1. Long light metal case with padlock (*) of the one-piece 'Boulle' cue dating from before 1914, presented in Section M (the picture shows only part of the case).
2. Canvas case, quite common in the early 1900's (is also found in cloth).
3. Cardboard box, stamped 'La Victorieuse'


probably dating from before 1930.
4. Pure leather parallelepipedal case, rare, with handle and security lock of the Van de Kerckhove cue with decal from before 1940 shown in Section G.
5. Hard Cylindrical case in pure leather with handle and padlock (*) that can hold more than a cue (there are also bigger cases with a compartment for accessories such as chalk).
6. Leather soft flat case with a handle fastened to its back (*) that is similar to the one above. Common after 1970.
